Avril Lavigne é uma cantora canadense, de apenas 26 anos. Conhecida como a Princesa do Pop Punk. Iniciou sua carreira em 2002 e já tem uma legião de fãs. Segundo a revista Forbes Avril é uma das jovens mais ricas do mundo.

Complicated é o primeiro single da cantora, escrita por ela e The Matrix (Scott Spock, Lauren Christy, e Graham Edwards). Lançado em 2002 faz parte do álbum " Let Go". A música fez muito sucesso nas rádios ( Foram 980.259 execuções desde sua estréia  até o dia 20 de setembro de 2009) e recebeu vários elogios dos críticos. Muitos consideram esse o melhor single de Avril. "Complicated" venceu na categoria de "Melhor Hit" em 2002, no MTV Video Music Awards e no Juno Awards de 2003.

O videoclipe foi dirigido por The Malloys e custou mais de um milhão de dólares. Nele há duas situações, em uma Avril está ao ar livre tocando com sua banda inicial e em outra situação ela está dentro de um shopping, com atitudes rebeldes.
